EAF iRecovery system for German plant
01/03/2012
Tenova Re Energy, the company part of Tenova network, which
specializes in engineering and construction of heat recovery systems, has signed a contract with Feralpi Siderurgica to supply an EAF iRecovery system for its German plant Elbe Stahlwerke Feralpi GmbH, Riesa, Germany.
After the first successful iRecovery operating on the 140t EAF in GMH since 2009, this new important reference consolidates the Tenova Re Energy leadership in the field.
Up to 20 MW from the off gas of the existing EAF will be recovered turning the Feralpi EAF into the probably most energy efficient EAF worldwide., explains Ralf Granderath, CEO of Tenova Re Energy The recovered energy is converted into steam, which is partly sold to a local energy carrier and partly led to an ORC turbine generating 2.5 MW electrical energy.
For the first time superheated steam is generated from an EAF, proofing that creative concepts for energy usage are the key for industrial heat recovery. iRecovery system is part of the iSteel solution package of Tenova to increase productivity, optimise energy consumption and reduce transformation costs. The iRecovery plant in Elbe Stahlwerke Feralpi GmbH, Riesa will be commissioned early 2013.
