Hydnum Steel, the first ‘green’ steel mill in Spain, and Euroports, one of the leading port and logistics operators in Europe, have signed a memorandum of understanding to optimise the steel supply chain. The agreement aims to develop an efficient logistics network for the transport, storage and distribution of steel coils that Hydnum Steel will produce at its planned plant in Puertollano.
Under the agreement, both companies will work closely together to design and implement an efficient and sustainable logistics network focussed on improving the transport, storage and distribution of the steel coils that Hydnum Steel plans to produce at its Puertollano plant. The collaboration also includes logistics solutions for the main raw materials for steel production, such as scrap iron, ‘green’ metals and iron ore from different sources and origins. According to Fernando Pessanha, Chief Strategy Officer at Hydnum Steel, this agreement represents an important step in improving our supply chain. ‘We will be able to offer our customers high-quality green steel products with maximum efficiency and sustainability. The same concept applies to key strategic raw materials such as ferrous scrap and iron ore. Euroports‘ experience and infrastructure will be crucial to achieving these goals,’ says Pessanha. Carlos Soleto, MED Business Development Manager of Euroports, adds: ‘This agreement is proof of Euroports’ international expertise in the field of port infrastructure for the steel industry. Our extensive experience in logistics and port operations will allow us to offer integrated solutions that will improve Hydnum Steel's competitiveness in the European market. Together we will drive innovation and sustainability in the steel supply chain.’ Source: Hydnum Steel/Euroports
