The new rolling mill enables the chinese steel company to produce high-quality, ultra-thin silicon steel, positioning the company among the top tier of the silicon steel market.
Primetals' 20-high-HZ rolling mill has rolled the first coil of silicon steel for applications in the new energy sector at LY Steel According to Primetals, the rolling mill enables the production of high-grade, ultra-thin silicon steel.
Primetals’ split-type 20-high HZ mill has started up at LY Steel in Loudi, Henan Province, rolling its first coil of high-quality silicon steel for new energy applications. According to Primetals, the advanced HZ mill supports stable, large-scale production of ultra-thin, high-grade silicon steel. This new production line establishes a strong foundation for LY Steel in producing and developing high magnetic induction grain-oriented (GO) and high-grade non-grain-oriented (NGO) silicon steel, the company says. Primetals supplied engineering, mechanical equipment, and commissioning services for the project.
According to Primetals, the HZ mill is an innovative split-housing ZR mill, offering several advantages over conventional ZR mills. Its large gap opening allows for easier strip threading and smooth recovery after strip breakages. Flexible roll diameter configurations cover a wide range of production requirements, while the Double AS-U shape control system ensures stable rolling and improved productivity. Additionally, the work rolls can be used throughout nearly the entire range without being limited by intermediate roll diameters, further enhancing operational flexibility, Primetals says.
