CRU, global commodities business analysis and research company, has selected Simon Morris as the new Head of Base Metals.
Founded as a company specializing in copper market research in 1969, CRU looks back on more than fifty years of business activity. Through various strategic acquisitions and offices set up in capital cities around the world, CRU has evolved into a leading provider of analysis, prices and consulting in key markets, such as mining, metals and fertilizers. The company’s head office is in London, UK.
Simon Morris will lead a global team of researchers and analysts, leveraging their business insights in the base metals markets to customers in the commodities business. The Base Metals division covers metals such as copper, lead, nickel and zinc.
Base metals business in challenging times

Simon Morris brings more than 20 years of experience in leading positions along the entire value chain of the raw materials and natural resources sector. At Rio Tinto and Shell, he held senior positions in corporate relations, and strategic and investment analysis. Further steps in his career include his more than a decade team leading role in the base metals division of a provider of B2B market intelligence. He holds an MSc in International Strategy & Diplomacy from the London School of Economics and Political Science LSE and a Bachelor of Commerce from Edinburgh University. Simon joins CRU from a commodity trading firm where he was Chief of Staff and Head of Strategy and Corporate Affairs.
