Italian-based I.R.O. S.p.A., Odolo, Province of Brescia, has given a final approval and sign off to Tenova Goodfellow Inc., a Canadian branch of Tenova, for meeting performance targets with the recently implemented iEAF system. Trials were conducted earlier this year in April and May and resulted in the recent evaluation and approval of savings by the customer.
In comparison to the established baseline agreed upon at the beginning of the project, consumption reductions were realized in the following areas: electricity (kWh/t liquid steel) 3.26 %; natural gas (m3(STP)/ t liquid steel) 2.05 %; oxygen (m3(STP)/ t liquid steel) 4.31 %; charge carbon (kg/t liquid steel) 6.64 %. The end result for the customer was an improved operation for a greater return on investment.
Tenova’s iEAF technology is a progressive, modular technology package that uses dynamic real-time mass and energy balance to reduce various furnace consumption levels while increasing yield and productivity. With customizable automation, hardware, software and communication modules, the iEAF technology is a flexible tool that can be adapted to suit each customer’s existing automation system and network.
