New roughing stands drives for the Riesa rolling mill
Feralpi Group placed an order for the supply of the new 5, 6, 7, 8 roughing stands drives of the ESF Elbe-Stahlwerke Feralpi GmbH, Riesa, rolling mill plant in Germany. The new drives from AIC Automazioni Industriali Capitanio, Italy were installed and started during the Christmas shut down in December 2015 / January 2016, while the existing drives had been in operation since 1994. With the current project the old ABB ACV700 drives were in fact to be replaced with new ACS880 Inverter series. For Feralpi Stahl this is the first application of the ABB ASC880 Inverter series. The supply will be composed of a single panel battery and containing a regenerative AFE (Active Front End) DC BUS of 2400 Amperes composed of nr 4 DC modules in parallel, while the part inverter will be composed of 8 inverter modules in parallel two by two for the control of two 550 kW AC motors and an equal number of 350KW AC motors. All the parts are equipped with standard devices und were built and tested in AIC workshops.
