Reiner Blaschek, who was previously the CEO of ArcelorMittal Germany, will assume the position of CEO at ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products, the group’s European flat steel arm, from 1 February 2024. Blaschek will replace Yves Koeberle, who will now be heading up purchasing activities across Europe.
The succession plan for Blaschek’s position in Germany will be announced at a later date once it has been approved by the company’s supervisory bodies.
Blaschek made the following statement:
“I am looking forward to the new task and to working with all the teams in Europe, but I am also aware of the enormous challenge that starts in an extremely difficult economic and political environment – especially in view of the huge transformation projects. It is only together with our colleagues in our plants and the support of policy-makers that we can successfully move ahead towards decarbonising steel production.”
Blaschek can look back on many years of service at the ArcelorMittal Group and the companies that preceded it since 1995 and has served in a variety of different functions. Most recently, he held the position of CEO at ArcelorMittal Germany and was chairman of the management board of the plants in Bremen and Eisenhüttenstadt.
