This machine is the logical result of the experience gained in decades by LPM in the field of light alloy wheel production. The machine is designed to simultaneously process, in automatic mode, aluminum wheels with different sprue sizes and design.
No operator is required as the unit removes the sprue from wheels, fed to the machine in random order. It is a fast and clean cutting machine, since the de-sprued wheels are clean from chips and most of the oil.
It is an ideal and flexible machine, that can easily cope with high volumes. Uptime is at its very best in this case, and the machine can easily process the production that comes from approximately ten low pressure die casting machines.
The machine can be ideally installed above a trench, in order to allow the necessary room to the main hydraulic cylinder that actuates the press. However, the machine can be located on the floor as long as the necessary platforms are provided.
As a standard, the machine is supplied with the initial die/punch tooling. The standard machine is not fitted with a vision system. This is simply because not all the wheel manufacturers X-ray the wheels before de-sprueing. In this case the machine can be supplied with an optional wheel recognition system, required to identify the wheel sprue size.
The device is studied for the fettling operation to be made on the lower part of the rim of the aluminum wheel with variable dimension between 13” x 6” and 22” x 11”.
The machine is composed by a steel welded frame studied to achieve into it two automatic rails
Each rail has on itself two independent groups which have (each one) on them a variable speed motor gear (1 electric inverter for both motors). Besides is present a rotation system with teethed rollers (the rollers will be adapted to the shape of the wheels to be fettled).
The scope of these groups is to centering the wheel sand made them rotating.
Close to one of this roller is present a cutting tool to de-flash the lower part (rear) of the rim (90°).
At the same level (but localized in the upper part of the machine) another cutting tool is present for de-flashing the external upper (lateral only) part of the rim (option).
Both these tools have been correctly dimensioned and provided with a pneumatic axial control to avoid mechanical shocks during the fettling cycle.
The electrical cabinet has in itself all the various instruments for the machine operations.
The machine doesnt need any adjustment before to precede with the automatic cycle.
This machine is designed to remove the risers from aluminium alloy wheels having different diameter.
The machine is composed as follows:
Steel welded base frame designed to allow the chips to fall in the conveyor belt underneath; it holds a stage to lean the wheel during drilling operation.
Sturdy steel column duly reinforced. This column features the sliding guides holding the iron head supporting carrier. This sub-assembly is sized so as to eliminate the vibrations when drilling.
Drilling head controlled by an axis card (speed and position). When changing the work piece model it is sufficient to change the drilling start and finish dimension from the controller. If these dimensions were previously set all you have to do is to recall the specific work piece program. The head is fitted with a 22 kW variable speed motor. The spindle is fitted with ISO 50 fixing attachment and includes the minimal inner coolant flow. The ISO 50 attachment is also equipped with a spindle adapter.
The head supports an hydraulically actuated plate used to clamp the work piece along the outer edge during the process. When the plate arrives in position, it finds the contact with the front wheel, centred previously by a mechanic/hydraulic; on this way, the wheel blocking is executed. An electronic system permit to execute the drilling.
